Lodging at the East Fork Yurt, Uintas

Nestled high at 8,500 feet, the East Fork Yurt offers an idyllic getaway in the heart of nature. Just 2 miles from the Trail Head, the journey to the yurt takes you along a scenic, non-motorized trail that winds through the East Fork Bench. The path is relatively easy, making it perfect for hauling extra supplies and goods, so you can pack a little more for your stay.

About

One of East Fork Yurt’s highlights is its stunning deck, where you can relax and take in the breathtaking vista of Mount Beulah, standing tall at 12,400 feet to the southeast. Whether you’re visiting for a winter retreat or a summer escape, the yurt provides a cozy and unforgettable experience. It’s just a short distance from the East Fork of the Bear River (roughly 200 ft), making it an ideal spot for fishing, hiking, or simply enjoying the tranquility of the surrounding wilderness.

Because of its closeness to the river, this is one of the few BRORA Yurts you can filter water from directly from the creek, rather than the standard melting of snow. Be prepared to chop through the ice in winter to make a water hole. I was able to do that, and scooped up ice cold water and then brought it back to the yurt and filtered it with my gravity filter. So much easier and cleaner than melting snow.

The East Fork Yurt is only 2 miles in which means during the day you can explore and hike the rest of the trail system. This is also a great option to take kids and dog along to, as it is a very easy approach.

FAQs

How can I make a reservation?

You must make a reservation at BRORA Yurts.

How much does it cost to stay at the yurt?

Pricing varies by season. In January when we went it was $233 total with taxes.

How many people can stay in the yurt?

They say a max of 8 people can sleep in here, but I don’t recommend more than 6 (plus dogs). This is just because it’s on the small side and you need at least one area to put all your gear to hang up and dry. There are three double bunk beds with flimsy sleeping pads, so make sure to bring your own.

What does the yurt provide?

The East Fork Yurt comes with plenty of firewood for the wood stove. All kitchen & cleaning supplies are provided as well. However, you need to bring ALL of your own food, including oil, spices, butter, etc. You will be provided a full list when you make the reservation. There is no trash service so you need to pack out everything you bring in.

Is there water access?

You can filter directly from the East Fork Bear River about 200 feet away, or you will need to carry it all in, or melt snow. The choice is yours. I highly recommend just filter water directly from the stream.
