Perched at 8,700 feet, the Bear Claw Yurt is a serene escape surrounded by nature. Only 2 miles from the Trail Head, reaching the yurt means following a charming, non-motorized trail that meanders through the Lily Lake Ski Trail System. The route is fairly gentle, making it easy to carry extra supplies—so don’t hesitate to pack a little more for a cozy, well-prepared stay.
About
Whether you’re planning a winter getaway or a summer adventure, the Bear Claw Yurt offers a cozy and memorable retreat. Located just 1.2 miles from Lily Lake, it’s the perfect base for fishing, hiking, or simply soaking in the peace of the surrounding wilderness.
Due to its secluded location, guests should plan to melt snow and filter it for drinking water.
With only a 2.3 mile approach, you’ll have plenty of energy to explore the rest of the trail system during the day. Its gentle path makes it a great option for families and dogs, ensuring everyone can enjoy the journey with ease.

FAQs
How can I make a reservation?
You must make a reservation at BRORA Yurts.
How much does it cost to stay at the yurt?
Pricing varies by season. In January when we went it was $233 total with taxes.
How many people can stay in the yurt?
They say a max of 8 people can sleep in here, but I don’t recommend more than 6 (plus dogs). This is just because it’s on the small side and you need at least one area to put all your gear to hang up and dry. There are three double bunk beds with flimsy sleeping pads, so make sure to bring your own.
What does the yurt provide?
The Bear Claw Yurt comes with plenty of firewood for the wood stove. All kitchen & cleaning supplies are provided as well. However, you need to bring ALL of your own food, including oil, spices, butter, etc. You will be provided a full list when you make the reservation. There is no trash service so you need to pack out everything you bring in.
Is there water access?
You will need to carry it all in, or melt snow. I highly recommend the Gravity Platypus Water Filter.
